Life as a parent at Campfire

Here at Campfire Analytics, we have made it a priority to foster an accommodating and flexible work environment. We recognize that no matter how rewarding work can be, employees will always have their own time commitments and responsibilities. It is important to us that our employees feel that they have the freedom to tackle the myriad of challenges we all face in our day to day lives, without having to micromanage their day or jump through endless administrative hoops. In the pandemic era, this has become more important than ever, particularly amongst those looking after others, whether it be children or other family members.

As a new parent myself, it’s been quite a challenge juggling my responsibilities. When the pandemic first started, our family had few options for childcare. With us both being working parents, our only option was to take turns looking after our toddler. As you might imagine, this was a stressful time for us. However, Campfire really made this a non-issue. With many of my colleagues being parents, they recognized the challenges of my situation and offered tips on how they managed in the past and volunteered to take things off my plate. I felt fully supported and, more importantly, understood. That support turned an impossible situation into a highlight of my career.

A new parent wrote that:

“[Our] baby came about two weeks early. We knew it could happen, so we had stuff packed, but work-stuff was far from squared away. During one of the less-lively portions of mother’s 32hr labor, I summarized the open items as best I could in an email and then closed my laptop for 6 weeks - confident that the company wanted me to focus on my family.”

Another new parent wrote:

“As a brand new parent, anxiety runs high as you are always worrying if your newborn has everything that she needs and the immediate care if something were to go wrong. The flexibility, accommodation, and most importantly empathy that the Campfire team provides is like no other place I have worked at.”

Another parent wrote:

“I've had so many moments of gratitude for Campfire and the life balance/whole person consideration that is supported here. Becoming a working parent was one of the most challenging transitions and life experiences I've had to date. But Campfire consistently offers the support and flexibility I need to find what works; and allows me to keep shifting ever-so-slightly as life ebbs and flows. The working parent camaraderie from colleagues has also been fun - great tips and leads from other parents on things to try, places to visit, and phases that will pass!”

Campfire Analytics understands that our employees are constantly juggling the priorities of their daily lives and that as their employer, we must create an accommodating environment to help support their needs in and out of work!
